I hope most of you are doing better than I at finding a research topic. Maybe if we share a few random ideas we can assist each other in finding that one topic that really clicks. Here is what Dawn and I have thought of so far.

1. Lining up for class. Does it affect student class performance?
2. Methods for learning multiplication facts
3. The effect of Read Aloud on reading
4. The effect of learning cursive on writing composition performance
5. Spelling methods
6. Spelling vs. Vocabulary development
7. Games and their effect on math skills
8. Games and their effect on spelling skills
9. The processes students use to solve a problem
10. The proficiency of student use of scissors as a predictor of academic success
11. How to teach reading fluency
12. Can children learn by playing?
13. Does the size of a student's pencil correlate with their IQ? (Just kidding!)

I hope you can post a few ideas too.
Dwight

Here's a few things I came up with:

Student Cognition: http://www.mste.uiuc.edu/courses/ci431kt/ci431fall98/issues/cognition/default.html

Curriculum Design: http://mathcurriculumcenter.org/research_framework.php
http://www.dataintheclassroom.org/content/view/3/3/

Teaching Methodology: http://www.crlt.umich.edu/tstrategies/teachings.php
http://jutlp.uow.edu.au/2005_v02_i02/pdf/barraket_004.pdf

The pages above list out either books used on research with topics, or present a number of ideas that could be used for research.
